WEST POINT, N.Y.  – A steady rain did little to hinder the preparations for the Army football team.

The Black Knights returned to the practice field during Tuesday’s rain for a three-hour workout.

Army did not practice on Monday due to the March Back and then utilized full pads for part of Tuesday’s session.

The usual routine of stretching and fundamental work began the workout on Tuesday inside Foley Athletic Center. The team then broke down into positions for drills.

The kickers began working outside at Howze Field while position specific work was being done inside.

The team then worked out against scout teams.

Quarterback Angel Santiago ran the first-team offense with Raymond Maples, Stephen Fraser, Trenton Turrentine, Hayden Tippett and Larry Dixon all working in the backfield. Anthony Stephens, Chevaughn Lawrence, Patrick Laird and Xavier Moss at wide outs. Nick Bennett, Zach Reichert, Ryan Powis, Matt Hugenberg, Michael Kime, Todd McDonald, Stephen Shumaker and Justin Gilbert took the bulk of the snaps on the offensive line.

A.J. Schurr was under center with the second squad, joined by Scott Williams and Edgar Poe at wide receiver with Lawrence Scott, Julian Crockett and Aaron Kemper in the backfield. Drew Hennessy, John Szott, Colby Enegren, Corey Hobbs and Ryan Kalnins on the line.

On the defensive side of the ball, Chris Carnegie, Geoffery Bacon, Hayden Pierce, Tyler Dickson, Marcus Poling, Jarrett Mackey, Julian Holloway, James Kelly, Ryan Alexander, Jonas Niusulu, Shane Finnane, Evan Finnane, Kyle Maxwell, Mike Ugenyi and Robert Kough saw plenty of action.

The morning portion of practice ended with 11-on-11 drills before a brief halftime break.

The squad returned in shorts and shoulder pads, stretched and ran more Army vs. Army before breaking into position groups.

Practice ended with Daniel Grochowski and Cale Brewer kicking. Grochowski made all three of his extra points and two of three field goals from 42 yards. Brewer hit the cross bar with his first 42-yard field goal attempt and then made two field goals and all three of his point after touchdowns.
