WEST POINT, N.Y.   - The fifth Army practice of the spring featured a high-intensity two and a half hour session utilizing Howze Field and Michie Stadium.

The second week of practice continued to focus on fundamentals and installation of new offensive, defensive and special teams systems.

First-year head coach Jeff Monken led his team through an intense workout that included plenty of hitting and tackling.

Army will hold its sixth practice Friday at 5 p.m. at Michie Stadium and Howze Field and is scheduled to scrimmage Saturday at 10 a.m. at Michie Stadium

The Black-Gold Game will be held Saturday, April 19 at noon at Michie Stadium.

WEDNESDAYS NOTABLES
Army stretched as a team on Howze Field.

The punt team was the first activity of the day before punt return.

Xavier Moss and Edgar Poe handled the punt return duties.

The team then broke down for position drills. The emphasis for offensive lineman was footwork The defensive linemen focused on getting off of blocks.

The group of running backs utilized medicine balls to emphasize being low on blocks.

Tight ends Jacob Owens and Eddy Ruzga got plenty of work with coach Bob Bodine.

During team portions of practice, several players stood out.

Quarterback Angel Santiago broke off several long runs.

Quarterback A.J. Schurr also had his share of big gains.

Running back Stephen Fraser rushing for a large pick up.

Safety Geoffrey Bacon with a great play to break up a pass.

Elijiah St. Hilaire with a long scoring run.

Ralph Friebert kicking a 23-yard field goal.

Bacon with a punishing tackle.

Defensive tackle Evan Finnane made a pair of tackles on consecutive plays.

Defensive backs Steven Johnson and Isaac Winters breaking up passes.

Schurr finding Mike Parros as his third option on a pass play.

Tony Giovannelli making a diving catch of a tipped pass.
