WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Jeff Monken era of Army football gets underway with the start of spring practice on Tuesday, March 25.

Monken, hired on Dec. 24, will lead Army through 14 practices, culminating with the annual spring game on Saturday, April 19 at Michie Stadium.

Army will practice in the afternoon at approximately 3:45 p.m. and will utilize Howze Field, Foley Center and Michie Stadium. Two of the practices will be held at the U.S. Military Academy Preparatory School.

Practices will be open to the public.

"We're excited and ready to go," said Monken. "We spent a lot of time in January building a staff and then focused on recruiting. Now, we get an opportunity to work with the players and begin to institute our systems and terminology. We will spend a lot of time teaching, yet our sessions will be up-tempo and physical.

Monken spent four seasons at Georgia Southern, guiding the Eagles to the Football Championship Subdivision national semifinals on three occasions and then leading the program elevation to the Football Bowl Subdivision.

Monken will get his first look on the field of the Black Knights, as will the new coaching staff.

Army kicks off the 2014 season Sept. 6 at Michie Stadium against Buffalo.
