Army's 2014 recruiting class will be announced on Reception Day

Feb. 5, 2014

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Due to the U.S. Military Academy appointment process, names of recruited cadet-athletes are not available until they arrive for Reception Day this summer. Therefore, the Academy will not have a release available at this time.

While National Letter of Intent Signing Day does not hold the same level of interest at West Point due to the fact that service academies cannot release the names of recruits at this time, Wednesday is an important day for the young men choosing to enter West Point.

“We are very excited about Wednesday,” said new Army coach Jeff Monken. “While our recruits are not signing binding letters of intent, they will sign a certificate of commitment to attend West Point. We are thrilled to know that they have made a pledge to attend the United States Military Academy. While the young men and their high school coaches are free to comment, we as a staff cannot.”

Monken, named Army’s 37th head coach on Dec. 24, 2013, will announce the dates of spring practice in the near future.

Army opens its first season under Monken on Sept. 6 against Buffalo at Michie Stadium.
