WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior men's basketball player Ella Ellis has been named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week. Ellis averaged 23.0 points in the Black Knights' two contests last week.
Ellis posted back-to-back 23-point outings in a 91-57 win over Marist and a 78-70 loss at Penn State. He made a career-high six three-pointers against the Red Foxes and followed that with five more triples versus the Nittany Lions.
The Houston native ranks second in the Patriot League in scoring at 20.1 points per game. He leads the conference with 3.0 made three-pointers per contest. He is just one of two players in the league to average 20 points and five rebounds.
Ellis has scored in double figures in each of Army's eight games this season, leading the team in scoring seven times.
The Black Knights travel to NJIT on Tuesday, wrapping a stretch of five out of six games on the road. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. Army returns home on Friday to host Maine at 7 p.m.
