Second Lieutenant Ellis Makes His Mark

Nov. 20, 2013

By Raymond Curren

As Army warmed up for its home opener against NJIT last Friday, Ella Ellis felt at home. He took a couple of shots to get loose, then snapped some passes off and he was in the flow. The team soon went back into the locker room and reappeared a couple minutes before tip-off. Like the rest of the Black Knights, Ellis was now in uniform.

Unlike the rest of the cadets, though, Ellis was in his semi-formal army dress. Ellis graduated last May as one of the most decorated players in Army basketball history, playing in a record 120 games, finishing fifth on the all-time scoring list, and making the All-Patriot League team his final two seasons at West Point, a unanimous selection last year, which saw the Black Knights post their first winning record in 26 years.
