WEST POINT, N.Y. - For the fifth time in nine seasons, the Army men's basketball team will play at Bucknell in the Patriot League Tournament. The Black Knights, the No. 5 seed in this year's postseason, will face the fourth-seeded Bison in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, March 5. Tip-off at Sojka Pavilion is set for 7 p.m.
Army and Bucknell split the season series. Army scored a 74-67 win at Christl Arena on Jan. 19, while the Bison evened the score with a 73-61 win in Lewisburg on Feb. 15.
Army is 1-7 all-time versus the Bison, its most common postseason foe, in the Patriot League Tournament. The Black Knights' victory came at Christl Arena in 1995 when seventh-seeded Army knocked off No. 2 Bucknell, 94-78. The top-seeed Bison ended Army's 2012-13 season with a 78-70 win in the semifinals at Sojka Pavilion. Army is 0-4 in postseason play in Lewisburg.
The Black Knights have been the fifth seed three times. Army is 1-3 as the No. 5, scoring a 64-61 overtime win at No. 4 Lehigh in 2008.
Boston University, the preseason favorite, captured its first Patriot League title and the No. 1 seed in this season's tournament. American is the No. 2, followed by Holy Cross at No. 3.
Lehigh is the sixth seed and will have to play at Holy Cross in Wednesday's quarterfinals. Colgate finished seventh and will host No. 10 Navy in Monday's first round. The winner will play at American in the quarterfinals. Loyola is the eighth seed and will play at home against Lafayette on Monday with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals at BU.
All the first round and quarterfinal games will be streamed live on The Patriot League Network. CBS Sports Network will broadcast the semifinals on Saturday, March 8. Tip-off for the games are set at 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. The network will also air the championship game on Wednesday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m.
