► The Black Knights host arch-rival Navy in front of a national television audience at Christl Arena. Army has win six of its seven home games this season, including a 77-54 win over Lafayette last time out.
► Army won both games against the Mids in 2011-12, its first season sweep since 1991-92. The Black Knights have not defeated Navy three consecutive times since earning victories during the 1975-76, 76-77 and 77-78 seasons. The series has been split down the middle in the last nine years. The two teams each won a game from 2003-04 through 2009-10. The Mids won both outings in 2010-11 before Army’s sweep last season.
► The Black Knights broke out of an offensive slump in the win over Lafayette. The team’s 77 points ended a three-game run, all losses, of scoring less than 60. Army is the Patriot League’s second-best offense at 73.2 points per game. The Black Knights have not averaged 70 points in a season since 2000-01.
► Army’s offense has been even better at home, scoring 81.8 points per game. The Black Knights have scored at least 77 points in five of their six games at Christl Arena, including three games of at least 90 points. Four of Army’s five home victories have been by at least 23 points.
► Senior Ella Ellis is on the cusp of history entering Sunday’s game. Ellis ranks 11th all-time at West Point with 1,337 points, only six short of reaching the Black Knights’ all-time top 10. He is just 17 points from moving into ninth position. Ellis is also only six three-pointers away from reaching Army’s all-time top five. His 162 triples is sixth behind Alex Morris’s total of 167.
► Ellis leads the team and is ranked third in the Patriot League at 17.6 points per game, 13th in the conference with a 44.9 percent field goal percentage and tied for sixth with a 42.7 three-point accuracy rate.
► Army has relied heavily on its freshman class through the first 17 games. The Black Knights have started at least two plebes every game and have had three in the lineup in the last 11 games. Army’s freshmen have acccounted for 51.9 percent of the scoring, 52.9 percent of the rebounding and 61.8 percent of its assists. Kyle Wilson is the Patriot League’s top scoring rookie at 11.5 points per game, while Dylan Cox is the top rebounding rookie in the conference at 5.3 per contest.
