WEST POINT, N.Y. - Coming off a school-record 41 wins and a Patriot League championship in 2012, the Army baseball team will officially turn its attention to the 2013 campaign this fall as the Black Knights engage in a competitive six-week non-traditional season.
The fall slate, which begins the first week of September and runs through the middle of October, allows head coach Joe Sottolano and his staff the chance to instruct and evaluate the players.
After hosting the team’s annual intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Sept. 8, the Black Knights welcome RPI to Doubleday Field on Sunday, Sept. 16. Army then hosts New York Tech on Saturday, Sept. 22, before holding its annual MLB Scout Day on Sunday, Sept. 30.
The team will conclude its fall schedule on Sunday, Oct. 7, when the Black Knights entertain Montclair State.
Army returns two All-Patriot League selections off of last year’s team in senior RHP Chris Rowley and sophomore OF Mark McCants. The Black Knights also bring back a pair of the conference’s 2012 major award winners in Rowley (Pitcher of the Year) and sophomore INF Harold Earls (Rookie of the Year).
