CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Army's game versus Virginia at the NCAA Charlottesville Regional has been suspended due to rain with the host Cavaliers batting in the bottom of the first inning. The game will be resumed on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.

The Black Knights stranded two runners on base in the top of the first, but failed to score and the game remains scoreless.

Virginia's leadoff batter drew a walk to begin the home half of the first, before the skies opened up and the umpires cleared the field.

After sitting through the rain delay in the dugout for about 90 minutes, NCAA officials sent Army back to its hotel to wait out the weather.

Then, at about 5 p.m., the call was made to officially suspend the game. The contest will be resumed from the point at which it was halted beginning Saturday at 1 p.m.

The inclement weather has affected the remainder of the weekend schedule for the Charlottesville Regional.
