TAMPA, Fla.  - Patrick Mescher knocked in the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to help Army win the second game and split a doubleheader with Harvard, Friday at the New York Yankees Complex.

Harvard won the opener 5-1 before Army rallied for a 3-2 in the second contest.

Army moved to 13-6 on the season, including a 6-1 mark during its Florida trip.

In the first game, Harvard scored three runs in the first inning. Jack Colton knocked in a run with a single and Ethan Ferreira doubled in a pair for an early advantage.

Harvard increased its lead to 4-0 in the second when Colton doubled in a run.

Army got a run back in the seventh. Alex Jensen reached on an error and Ben Smith was hit by a pitch. Jon Crucitti followed with a single to plate Jensen.

Harvard closed the scoring in the eighth as Steve Dill singled in a run for the final margin.

Daniel Cortes, Crucitti and Kris Lindner each had two hits apiece for Army. Nick Dignacco took the loss, his first of the season. He allowed four runs in five innings of work with five strikeouts. Erik Washburn threw three innings and didn’t allow an earned run and John Malcolm threw a scoreless ninth.

In the nightcap, Mescher had two hits. Alex Robinett picked up his second win of the season with a complete-game effort. Robinett walked one and struck out two in nine innings of work.

Harvard again scored first, pushing across a run in the opening frame on a sacrifice fly Brandon Kregel.

The Crimson extended their lead to 2-0 in the third on a sacrifice fly by Ferreira.

Army broke through with a run in the fifth. Mescher reached on an error, Brock Davidson walked and the runners moved up on a Jensen ground out. Connor Love delivered a single to plate Mescher.

The Black Knights knotted the game in the seventh. Lindner walked to open the inning and Mescher doubled to make it a 2-2 game.

Mescher again delivered in the ninth. Jacob Page led off the inning with a single and took second on a Lindner sacrifice. Mescher drilled a towering single to score Page for the “walk off” victory.

Army will conclude its spring trip with a nine-inning contest against Harvard, Saturday at 2 p.m. at Tampa Jesuit High School.
