BRONX, N.Y. The Army women’s cross country team finished third in the University Race at the ECAC Championships on Saturday morning at Van Cortlandt Park in New York City. Junior Meghan Curran led the Black Knights with a 10th place finish.
“That is easily the best our women have run all season,” said head coach Laura Kirchgraber. “It was definitely a good way to end the season with such a good team performance.”
Curran, who was held out of the NCAA Regional Championships last weekend with an illness, returned to action to close out the season on a high note. The junior standout led the team with a 10th place finish, covering the course in 19:04.
Sophomore Stephanie Schoeneman was close behind in 13th place with a time of 19:07 with fellow sophomore Ashley Morgan coming home in 24th with a time of 19:23.
Senior captain Megan Howell closed out her collegiate cross country career with a 39th place finish (19:39) while freshman Anne Danczyk was the final Army scorer in 71st (20:08).
New Hampshire won the meet with a total of 68 points while Colgate was second (96) and the Black Knights third with 153 points. A total of 25 teams and 213 runners competed in the event.
The Army women’s cross country team has now concluded the 2007 season.
