BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Myra Markey, Jill Hajec and Kirsten Dawson all finished in the Top 100 to help lead the Army women's cross country team to a 15th-place finish at the 32nd annual Paul Short Invitational Saturday. The Black Knights racked up 482 points and placed just ahead of Navy in the team scoring.

Markey, a senior from Freeland, Mich., crossed the finish line in 21 minutes, 59.3 seconds to pace all Army runners. Hajec, a senior from Camden, Del., (22:07.0) followed Markey all the way to the tape and placed 82nd overall.

Dawson turned in one of her best performances since arriving at West Point. The sophomore toured the 5,000-meter course in 22:16.6 to place 98th.

Freshman Meghan Curran (22:18.8) and senior Natalie Cahill (22:32.7) finished 103rd and 129th, respectively, to round out Army's Top 5.

Columbia won the event with 121 points. Georgetown (138 points) finished runner-up.

Army head coach Jerry Quiller was happy with how his team performed.

"It was a good team effort today," remarked Quiller. "I thought Kirsten Dawson really gave us a super performance."

Army is idle until Friday, Oct. 14, when the Black Knights host Navy in the annual "Star" meet at the West Point Golf Course at 4 p.m.
