WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army men's and women's cross country teams were among the nation's elite programs named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic Team after earning a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Army men were amid 160 cross country teams listed for academic honors after earning a team grade point average of 3.08, and the women were amongst 217 programs after posting a 3.26 GPA. The Black Knights were one of four Patriot League schools recognized on both the men's and women's side.

The Southern Miss women were named the Scholar Team of the Year with a 3.79 GPA, while the Chattanooga men earned that honor with a 3.71.

It is the second time this year that Army's cross country teams earned academic honors.

Twenty-two Army runners were recognized by the Patriot League last month, earning spots on the Academic Honor Roll.

The Black Knights were among a list of 115 women's and 111 men's cross country competitors to be recognized, having earned at least a 3.20 grade point average during the 2013 fall semester.
