CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Army track and field earned 44 spots on the spring semester edition of the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, including 29 certificates earned by the Black Knight men and 15 by the women. The 44 honorees matched the most by an Army track team since 2005, when 26 men and 18 women were recognized.  

To be eligible for the spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring championship sports.

Army combined for six cadet-athletes who boasted GPAs higher than 4.0. On the men’s side, a trio of sophomore economics majors represented the Black Knights as Ian MacPherson (4.20), Mark Van Benschoten (4.228) and Kendall Ward (4.011) earned the high marks. For the women, freshman standout Lisa Junta (4.056, undeclared), sophomore systems engineering major Allie Sutherland (4.01), and recent graduate Jennifer West (economics, 4.021) led Army in the classroom.

West was joined by classmate Tom Wagner, the reigning Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for track and field, as the lone four-time honorees for Army.

In total, 184 men and 202 women were recognized by the Patriot League for their academic success. Bucknell led the conference with 80 total certificates, followed by Holy Cross with 58, while Lafayette and Navy tied for third with 52 nods.
