Wilson's Season Ends In First Round of NCAAs

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – Sophomore Clyde Wilson kicked off Army’s three-day stay at the First Round of the NCAA Track & Field Championships Thursday night at North Carolina A&T. Wilson was vying for a spot in the national quarterfinals when he ran in Thursday’s 800-meter run first-round competition.

In a field of 48, Wilson crossed the finish line 35th with a time of 1:51.38. The top-24 finishers advanced to Friday’s quarterfinal round.

Wilson is the first of five Black Knights entered to compete this week in Greensboro, N.C. Sophomore javelin specialist Jacob Drozd will be the first Army entrant to compete tomorrow, scheduled for the qualifying round at 2 p.m. Kyler Martin (110-meter hurdles, 5 p.m.) and Mark Castelli (3,000-meter steeplechase, 9:30 p.m.) are also slated to Friday’s first-round races.
