WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army junior swimmer Dan Foky, who won a pair of individual events and helped break an Academy record versus Navy last Thursday, was selected as the Army Athletic Association's Athlete of the Week on Monday.
Foky, who hails from Charlottesville, Va., swept the freestyle sprints, taking gold in the 50 free (20.81 seconds) and 100 free (45.61). He also swam the anchor leg on Army's record-setting 200-yard medley relay team that shattered the previous school standard with a clocking of 1:31.42.
Foky's efforts in the pool helped the Black Knights to their highest point total (114 points) against Navy since 1993 (118).
The Army swimming and diving teams will be idle until Tuesday, Jan. 3, when the Black Knights travel to San Juan, Puerto Rico, for the San Juan Invitational.
