Army seniors Ayman Andrews and Chris Nguyen were both honored by the Patriot League with weekly awards on Monday after helping the Black Knights defeat non-conference foe Buffalo, 164.5-135.5, on Saturday.
Nguyen, who swept both diving events against the Bulls, was named the conference's Male Diver of the Week for the third time this season and 13th time in his career.
Andrews, meanwhile, was tabbed the Patriot League's Male Swimmer of the Week for the first time in his career after sweeping the butterfly events and scoring points for the Black Knights in four different disciplines versus UB.
A two-time Patriot League Diver of the Meet, Nguyen coasted to victory off the boards, winning both events by at least 30 points. The fourth-year standout piled up 314.32 points in the one-meter event en route to a 30-point win off the short board. The native of Cheshire, Conn., then recorded a season-best score of 355.95 points in the three-meter discipline and outdistanced the field by more than 60 markers.
Andrews, who won the Patriot League title in the 100-yard butterfly as a sophomore two seasons ago, turned in one of the best performances of his career against UB. The Sussex, N.J., product recorded season-best times in both butterfly events en route to first-place finishes in the 100 fly (49.02) and 200 fly (1:51.16). Andrews chipped in a fifth-place showing in the 200-yard individual medley, touching the wall in 1:57.62. He also swam on the Black Knights 400-yard medley relay team that placed runner-up with a clocking of 3:24.69.
The Army men will put their unblemished 5-0 record to the test on Saturday, Nov. 17, when the Black Knights host Columbia at 5 p.m. The Army women (3-3) will host LIU Post at the same time.
