CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -
Army freshman Nat Beale, who had a hand in four victories in the pool during the Black Knights' sweep of Boston College, Rowan and Vermont on Friday night, was named the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week on Monday afternoon.
Beale, who looked nothing like a freshman swimming in her first collegiate meet last Friday, began the evening by teaming with freshman Jess Fabrizio, sophomore Kristina Muller and junior Grace Hamilton to win the 200-yard medley relay in a clocking of 1:49.87.
The highly-touted Beale went on to capture individual victories in the 100 back (59.23) and 200 back (2:05.71). Her time in the 100 back ranks 10th all-time at Army, while her clocking in the 200 back lists fourth on the Black Knights' career list. Army swam exhibition over the final two events, and Beale outdistanced the field in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.12.
Beale's performance helped the Black Knights to their first 3-0 start since beginning the 2002-03 campaign with three straight victories.
The Army swimming and diving teams return to action on Friday, Oct. 19, when the Black Knights travel to Amherst, Mass., to face Massachusetts. The non-league dual meet is set to get under way at 5 p.m.
