Army Places 26 On PL Academic Honor Roll

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Army swimming and diving teams were honored by the Patriot League on Tuesday as 26 members of the program were selected to the conference's Academic Honor Roll. Sixteen Army men and 10 Black Knight women were named to the exclusive list.

A total of 97 men and 106 women from conference institutions were placed on the league's Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes who earn at least a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester while participating in swimming and diving.

Seniors Dan Borchik (3.800, Mechanical Engineering) and Matt Joiner (3.563, German) led the Army contingent as both were honored for the fourth consecutive year.

Senior Byron Plapp (3.819, Geospatial Information Science) and juniors Vinny Franchino (3.685, Mechanical Engineering) and Carter Kelly (3.365, Geospatial Information Science) were placed on the Honor Roll for the third year in a row.

Senior Taylor Whitten (3.391, Economics) and sophomores John Blickle (3.864, Psychology) and Daniel Ruckman (3.323, Systems Engineering) were named to the Honor Roll for the second consecutive year.

Sophomore Kenny Yacynych (3.404, Kinesiology) and freshmen Trevor Askins (3.572, undeclared), Joon Chung (3.927, undeclared), Michael Dustin (3.360, undeclared), Matt Kane (3.756, undeclared), Nic Laffosse (3.685, undeclared), Tyler Sowell (3.518, undeclared) and Will Viana (3.514, undeclared) each made their first appearance on the Honor Roll.

Sophomore Rita Snyder, who was honored for the second straight year, was one of 13 student-athletes to post a GPA above 4.0 on the women's side. The second-year diver, who majors in Life Science, recorded a 4.066 during the spring semester. Fellow sophomores Breawna Davis (3.629, Systems Engineering) and Anna Lan (3.299, Computer Science) were both named to the Honor Roll for the second year in a row.

Sophomore Emily Adelmann (3.486, Kinesiology) and freshmen Sam Allen (3.299, undeclared), Kristen Barta (3.893, undeclared), Renee Mihail (3.812, undeclared), Kristina Muller (3.496, undeclared), Lauren Ng (3.621, undeclared) and Kelsey Rebelez (3.539, undeclared) were each named to the Honor Roll for the first time.
