Entering her sixth year at West Point as an assistant director of athletic communications, Tracy Nelson handles all publicity for Army's lacrosse, volleyball and women's tennis teams. In May 2008, Nelson was tagged with the title of Director of Internet Services and continues in that role as the athletic department's liaison with CBS Interactive, Army's official web site provider.

Nelson maintains all general web pages on www.goARMYsports.com and also manages the Army's official online photo store and auction site. She works hand-in-hand with CBS Interactive to ensure the online experience for Army fans across the globe is executed to the highest degree. During her tenure, Nelson has overseen two website redesign projects and also guided the transition of www.goARMYsports.com to CBS Interactive in 2011.

Her daily duties with the lacrosse, volleyball and women's tennis teams include media guide and game note production, website maintenance, in-game statistics, Twitter updates, media relations and handling all television broadcasts for all three sports.

Since arriving at West Point in 2007, Nelson has won numerous publication awards. She was the executive editor for the 2007-08 women's basketball media guide that was named "Best In District I," according to College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Each of Nelson's last two volleyball media guides have also been honored by CoSIDA as second "Best In District I." She was also the lead designer for the 2008 women's socccer guide that was lauded as "Best In District I."

Following the volleyball team's 2009 Patriot League Championship and ensuing NCAA Tournament berth, Nelson was selected for the College Volleyball Update RESPecting Volleyball (Recognition for Excellence in Supporting and Promoting Volleyball) national honor. Following the 2011 volleyball season, the American Volleyball Coaches Association honored Nelson as the Northeast Region Division I SID of the Year.

Nelson came to West Point from fellow Patriot League institution Lafayette, where she spent two years working for the Leopards. During that time, she served as the primary contact for 14 of Lafayette's 23 varsity sports, including women's basketball, volleyball, field hockey, softball and men's and women's lacrosse. Nelson also spent significant time working with men's basketball and football, a program that brought home Patriot League Championship hardware in each of the two seasons that she was there.

A native of Salamanca, N.Y., Nelson graduated magna cum laude from the Russell J. Jandoli School of Journalism and Mass Communication at St. Bonaventure University in 2005. It was at St. Bonaventure that Nelson was introduced to the sports information profession, interning as a student in both her junior and senior years. She served as the primary contact for men's soccer and was co-Media Relations Director for the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships in Buffalo, N.Y. for two years. She also worked extensively with men's and women's basketball and baseball.

While at St. Bonaventure, Nelson was the sports editor for the campus newspaper, The BonaVenture, as a sophomore after contributing as a staff writer in her freshman year.

Nelson, 29, holds professional credentials from CoSIDA, ECAC-SIDA and USBWA. She resides in Cornwall on Hudson, N.Y.
