Athletic Academic Support Coordinator
Sara Jones is an Athletic Academic Support Coordinator/Writing Specialist in the Center for Enhanced Performance. Jones works with corps squad and non-corps squad cadets on strategies for improving essay organization, strengthening overall academic skills, time management, and test preparation. In addition, she works closely with volleyball, football and field team members to help them achieve academic excellence. She also teaches the RS 101 Student Success Course, in which cadets learn valuable skills and techniques that enable them to better achieve their goals.
Jones joined the West Point staff in December of 2010 after working two years at North Carolina State as a part of the Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes. She also taught English courses at Miller-Motte Technical College. Before her time at N.C. State, Jones worked with international students at English Language Services' Queens University campus in Charlotte, N.C. Prior to her tenure at Queens, she taught English in Seoul, South Korea, for one year.
Jones earned her Master's degree in English Literature from N.C. State and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C.
She hails from Charlotte, N.C. and currently lives in Cornwall, N.Y.
