A first team All-Patriot League selection at first base last spring while doubling as Army's closer, McKague served as a major component in the Black Knights' record-setting performance. He figures to play a large role in Army's quest to repeat as Patriot League champion this season. Those efforts, and those of the entire team will be documented through regular online journal entries that will appear on Army's official Web site at www.goARMYsports.com.
Be sure to check back regularly to gain his insights as McKague and the Black Knights attempt to claim their fourth Patriot League championship in seven years. The first of McKague's weekly entries is listed below:

Welcome back Army Baseball fans! Our 2010 season is approaching fast and from now until the end of the season I'll be writing a weekly journal highlighting successes on the field and also the time spent off the field which mainly consists of joking around with teammates. Coming off arguably the best season in Army Baseball history, expectations remain very high for our young team. Though the senior class may be small (only four seniors on this year's team), they lead us on the field with experience and know exactly what it takes to win a championship.
We return All-Americans Clint Moore and Joey Henshaw and Freshman All-American Zach Price, along with reigning Patriot League Pitcher of the Year Ben Koenigsfeld. There is no doubt this team has talent and the offseason has demonstrated just how hard we are willing to work. Whether it's hitting the gym at 5:30 in the morning or practicing bunt coverages before the sun rises, there has never been signs of a lack of effort.
Starting on Monday, Feb. 1st, the season officially starts and life revolves around baseball (for most of us, it does year-round). But in three short weeks from today we'll be on our way to Winston-Salem for a three-game set in my home state of North Carolina. Let it be known, this 2010 team is very different from last year's squad, and by no means are we satisfied with last season's performance. I'll sign off for now and be sure to keep our fan base updated because the support we receive from our fans truly means the world to us as players. Even in Austin, Texas, last year with 9,000 fans in burnt orange cheering against us, all that mattered was our Black Knights' cheering section over towards the right field bullpen.
And in keeping with tradition: McKague Out
BEAT EVERYBODY!!!
