WEST POINT
, N.Y. - The Army men's swimming & diving team defeated visiting Bucknell, 178-117, while the Bison women picked up a 183-112 victory in Patriot League dual meet competition, Saturday, at Crandall Pool.

Senior James McLaughlin shined in his final home appearance for the Black Knights, winning two individual events and adding a leg to a winning relay to celebrate Senior Day. Senior Lindsey Adao was also successful in her final home showing, taking top honors in the 1-meter diving event, and finishing runner-up on 3-meter.

Seniors Chuck Ciliske, Kathryn Rivera and Amy Tang were also part of a ceremony before the start of the meet.

"It was a great day for our guys, and I was especially proud of our seniors, both men and women," said head coach Mickey Wender. "I feel like we are teammates in a way because I started on their first day of school four years ago and they have put a lot into the program in that time. We've been through a lot and it was an emotional day for them and everyone on the team. I'm proud of the way everyone stepped up, especially our younger guys, and being the kind of team we have talked about being all year. Things are coming together at the right time."

McLaughlin teamed with junior Brendan Murphy, sophomore Brody Blickle and freshman Brooks Corcoran to start the afternoon off with a first-place effort in the 200 medley relay (1:34.50). Sophomore Cody Reeb followed with a strong showing in winning the 1,000 freestyle (9:43.96) and later added a first-place showing in the 500 free (4:43.78)  a day after also sweeping both events in the Black Knights' victory over Lehigh on Friday night.

Bucknell looked to mount a comeback, taking the top-two places in the 200 free and adding a first-place effort in the 100 backstroke, but McLaughlin touched the wall first in the 100 breaststroke (57.60) to lead a 1-2-3 Army sweep in the event to squash the rally. McLaughlin also swept the two events on Friday night against Lehigh.

Junior Matt Leegan (58.50) and freshman Carter Kelly (59.72) followed in second and third place, respectively. The trio would also later nab the top-three places in the 200 breast, as McLaughlin (2:07.54) would once again out-touch Kelly (2:11.08) and Leegan (2:11.62).

A 1-3 finish by freshman Alex Ford (1:54.54) and junior Pete Colbert (1:55.88) in the 200 butterfly, and a 1-2 finish by Murphy (21.45) and freshman Brandon Faust (21.46) in the 50 free gave the Black Knights a commanding lead heading into the first diving break.

Junior Brendan Georgas led a 1-2-3 Army sweep in the 3-meter diving competition with a winning score of 241.35, followed by sophomore Matt Joiner (228.83) and freshman Chris Nguyen (228.82). Nguyen later notched a winning effort in the 1-meter diving competition with a career-best 285.37 performance.

The Black Knights would pull away down the stretch, led by a first-place effort by sophomore Chuck Zhou in the 200 back (1:52.92), and a 1-2-3 Army sweep in the 100 fly by Corcoran (50.51), Blickle (50.85) and freshman Ayman Andrews (51.51).

Blickle's day ended with a winning effort in the 200 individual medley (1:56.25), before Murphy, senior Chuck Ciliske, sophomore Byron Plapp and freshman Bill McCarty ended the meet on a winning note in the 400 free relay (3:10.18).

On the women's side, Adao notched a 1-meter win with a score of 239.02, while her score of 217.86 on 3-meter placed her in second.

In the swimming events, freshman Alyssa Tran's day included a win in the 100 fly (57.64), a second-place effort in the 50 free (24.52) and third place in the 100 free (54.97).

Sophomore Paige Brink also had a strong afternoon of swims with a win in the 200 fly (2:09.77) and a third-place clocking in the 100 fly (59.20).

Freshman Christine Esachina contributed a third-place outcome in the 100 breast (1:09.30), while classmate Becky Malone was third in the 200 breast (2:31.79).

The Army men improved to 7-2 in dual meet competition this season, while the women fell to 3-7.

Army will head to Georgetown for a 5:00 p.m. dual meet with the Hoyas on Friday (Jan. 22) before competing in a quad meet at George Mason with Old Dominion and American on Saturday (Jan. 23) scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
