4:00 - Army 30, Harvard 11 - FINAL

VOLKMANN'S VIEW (Army vs. Harvard)
Alright, we are back underway with our day's second match ... gonna have a long way to go to be as exciting as the last one ... back-and-forth start to the match so far ... Vetter is doing his best Silence of the Lambs impression with a black Hannibal Lector looking mask on ... pretty intimidating if you ask me ... next up - Starks ... Starks takes over midway through the second and keeps piling on the points ... another one of our really tough guys who is fun to watch work ... also interesting that Michael Jackson's 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough' is playing in the background ... bring on the heavyweights ... I always think it is interesting watching the heavyweights go at it and then immediately watch a bout between to guys that way 125 pounds. Quite a contrast ... Casey Thome just made quick work of his bout at 141. He is one of our very talented underclassmen. He had a great freshman campaign at 149, but moved down a weight class after Kyler moved up during the off season. Thome hasn't missed a beat ... Kyler just picked up an 11-0 major over Walter Peppleman, who I just found out he lost to twice in high school (thanks to Jim Butler and Al Fricke for checking in from Pennsylvania with that great note) ... wrapping things up here at 157 with our man Rudy Chelednik taking on fourth-ranked wrestler in the country at the weight class. Rudy has his work cut out for him. O'Connor looks impressive ... that's all folks ... thanks for tuning in for today's action ... thanks also to all those that emailed me and kept the afternoon fun ... hope you enjoyed the commentary ... "see" you on Feb. 13 for Army's dual with East Stroudsburg and then again on Feb. 21 for the big one with Navy.

VOLKMANN'S VIEW (Army vs. Brown)
Crowd of about roughly 275 in attendance here at Gillis Field House ... hello to Sean and Jill McCarthy, parents of Army plebe Connor McCarthy, checking in from Kansas ... David and Flora Sandhaus checked in from Atwater, California just as their son Lance eeked out a close 4-3 decision at 125 ... if my mom was here, she would wash all of the Brown coaches' mouths out with soap ... Army assistant coaches Rocco Mansueto and Ryan Wilman started the match looking sharp in their sport coats, but not so much right now as they have both turned coatless due to all the excitement ... Kyler was in total control. He is fun to watch ... I weigh about 80 pounds more than Kyler does and I am pretty sure he would put me on my back in about 10 seconds ... it all comes down to the last bout as Army leads by two points ... chants of "Rudy - Rudy" in Gillis Field house - and it is not a football game ... fun match to watch as Army trailed 13-0 to start, but came back to win. Phew....we'll be back with Harvard and Army at 4:00 p.m.
