Jay Clark Named League Goalie of the Week

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army goalie Jay Clark has been named the Atlantic Hockey Association Goalie of the Week, it was announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

It is the third time this season the sophomore from Baudette, Minn., was honored by the league.

Clark made 76 saves and allowed just three goals in nearly 125 minutes of play as Army earned a win and tie against Canisius. Clark made 34 saves in a 4-1 win on Friday and then turned away 42 shots in a 2-2 overtime tie on Saturday. He made double-digit saves in all six periods of regulation and posted a goals against average of 1.44 for the weekend as well as a .962 save percentage.

Matt Pierce of Mercyhurst, who scored four goal in a weekend sweep of American International, and Sacred Heart’s Bear Trapp, who netted two goals and four assists in a split with RIT, were named co-Players of the Week. Cameron Burt of RIT had a goal and three assists, all on the power play, and was named Rookie of the Week.

This marks the fourth honor an Army player has received from the conference. In addition to Clark being named three times, Owen Meyer was named the Player of the Wee Jan. 12.

Army is in seventh-place in the conference standings with a league mark of 7-11-4 and an overall record of 8-16-4. The Black Knights will play a home-and-home series with Sacred Heart this weekend.
