WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army senior Adam Fullerton was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week for the fifth time this season, while freshman midfielder Rob McCallion garnered his third Rookie of the Week honor, announced Monday.

Fullerton did all he could to hold off top-ranked Duke in the Black Knights’ 10-6 loss on Saturday, stopping a career-best 24 Blue Devil shots. His previous personal best was 18 in a 9-5 victory over Holy Cross on April 27, 2007.

The Liverpool, N.Y. native was a huge reason why Army was able to hold Duke, which entered the game leading the country in scoring, six goals under its season average. Fullerton also registered nine saves in Tuesday’s 12-4 victory at Lafayette which helped clinch a share of the Patriot League regular-season title.

His performance against Duke also moved him into second place on Army’s all-time saves list with exactly 600 over the past four years, passing Rick Aguilar ’94 and his 598 total. He only needs four saves to set the Academy record, currently held by George Slabowski ’84, who totaled 603 saves during his career.

McCallion, who hails from Narberth, Pa., was also recognized after another solid two-game performance last week. He started off with a goal and two assists in the Black Knights’ victory over Lafayette on Tuesday, and then added a goal and an assist versus Duke on Saturday.

McCallion is tied for the team scoring lead with 30 points on 12 goals and a team-best 18 assists. He is also the only Black Knight that has scored in all 13 games this season.

Army (9-4, 5-1 PL), ranked 11th in the latest USILA National Coaches Poll, and 13th in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll, earned the top seed for the upcoming Patriot League Tournament and will host the four-team field for this Friday’s semifinals and Sunday’s championship. The Black Knights will take on fourth-seeded Bucknell at 4:00 p.m. followed by matchup featuring second-seeded Navy and third-seeded Colgate at 7:00 p.m. in Michie Stadium. The two winning team’s will square off on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament going to the winner.
