WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army senior lacrosse captain Justin Bokmeyer, senior pitcher Cole White, and senior thrower Brittany Greene were named Co-Athletes of the Week by the Army Athletic Association after leading their respective teams to victory over Navy this weekend.
Originally from El Cajon, Calif., Bokmeyer scored a game-high three goals as the Black Knights upset sixth-ranked Navy, 9-6, to snap a 13-game losing skid to the Midshipmen on Saturday at Michie Stadium. Bokmeyer scored his first goal only 55 seconds into the game as Army jumped out to a 3-0 lead, while his other two tallies came during a decisive 3-0 Black Knight run in the third quarter that gave Army its largest lead of the day, 8-4. Bokmeyer currently leads Army with 27 points on a team-best 20 goals and seven assists.
White, who hails from Midland, Texas, threw a complete-game one-hitter to pick up a 2-1 extra-inning victory and complete a doubleheader sweep of the Midshipmen on Saturday. White only allowed a fifth-inning double, while striking out six and walking five in eight innings of work as the Black Knights picked up their third-straight victory of the weekend in Annapolis.
Greene, a native of Apple Valley, Minn., won the javelin with a personal-best and NCAA Regional qualifying performance during Friday’s 119.5-83.5 track & field victory over the Midshipmen. Her throw of 43.76 meters, which was the fourth-best effort in Army history, also qualified her for the ECAC Championships and sparked an Army sweep of the throwing events as the Black Knights won 15 of 19 events during the meet.
