WINTER PARK, Fla. - For just the fifth time in a series that dates back to 1970, Army (6-5) and Air Force (8-2) will square off in a meeting of service academy rivals, Sunday on a neutral court in Winter Park, Fla.
The
two squads have not met since 2005, when the Black Knights defeated the No. 74 Falcons
5-2 to avenge a 6-1 loss from 2004.
Air
Force brings a 9-2 record into Sunday's match. The Falcons also own an eight-match
win streak, their longest since the 2002-03 season.
On
the other side, the Black Knights climbed over the .500 mark for the second
time this season following a 7-5 altered-format win over host Florida Institute
of Technology in Melbourne, Fla. on Thursday. Behind three doubles wins and
four more solo victories, Army won its third consecutive match and its fourth
in the last five outings.
Following
Sunday's match, Army will return to action Tuesday, March 23 in its Patriot
League season-opener opposite Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa.
