TAMPA, Fla. - Kasandra Clark cleared an Academy outdoor record in the pole vault, Domonick Sylve posted the fastest time by a cadet in in the 110m hurdles, and several athletes posted postseason-qualifying and personal-best times, as the Army men's and women's track and field teams opened the outdoor season at the Bulls Invitational in Tampa, Fla. on Friday.

On the heels of a stellar indoor season in which he lowered the Academy record in the 60m hurdles, Junior speedster Sylve posted ran a wind-aided 13.68 in the 110m hurdles. The time is the fastest by a cadet by a large margin (T.J. Petersen owns the outdoor record at 13.89), but does not qualify as an Academy record or NCAA qualifying time as the wind was outside the allowable parameters.

In the pole vault, junior Clark collected sixth with a new personal-best 3.65m to set the Academy outdoor record, breaking the old mark held by Anna Diko (3.49m) . She was also 10th in the long jump with a leap of 5.21m.

Sophomore Michael Hutchins won the long jump with an IC4A-qualifying jump of 7.12m. Hutchins also earned third place and cleared 2.08m in the high jump, surpassing the IC4A qualifying mark of 2.04m.

In the 5,000m race, classmate Michael Mitchell earned first place overall by lowering his personal best to 14:59.13.

Sophomore Frederick Beebe grabbed second place with a leap of 14.48m in the triple jump, barely missing the IC4A standard of 14.50m. The San Antonio, Texas native was also 12th in the long jump (6.00m).

Senior thrower Kurt Bujewski was fourth in the discus (47.27m), while placing sixth in the shot (14.35m), and 11th in the javelin in a personal-best 47.09m. Junior Patrick Heath was fourth in the javelin with a personal-record 59.93m.
