WEST POINT, N.Y. - Six members of Army's rifle team were named to the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) All-Academic Honor list at the banquet following the NCAA Championships hosted by Texas Christian. It is the largest contingent in Army history.
Selected for this honor were Chris Arnett from New Haven, Ind.; Tommy Carr from Lebanon, Pa.; Sara Lehman from St. Johns, Mich.; Chris Malachosky from Spring, Texas; Charles Ridge from Langhorne, Pa.; and Patrick Northam from Morgantown, N.C. It is the third straight year that Northam has been honored and second time that Ridge received this award.
Arnett, Carr and Lehman are sophomore, Malachosky is a freshman, Northam is a junior and Ridge is a senior and the team captain.
Army's shooters were among an elite group who carried a 3.20 or higher cumulative grade-point average.
The Black Knights are coming off a fifth-place finish at the recent NCAA Championships in which Ridge, Lehman and Carr participated. Lehman turned in a fifth-place finish in the individual finals in smallbore and twice earned Army Athletic Association weekly honors.
It is the seventh straight year that Army qualified for the NCAA Championships.
