ROCHESTER, N.Y.  - Cody Omilusik and Marcel Alvarez earned second-team honors and Army was presented with the Team Sportsmanship Award as the Atlantic Hockey Association handed out its annual awards at the RIT Inn Thursday night.

Army, the least penalized team in Atlantic Hockey games, won the sportsmanship award for the second consecutive season. Commissioner Robert DeGregorio distributed the trophies.

Alvarez collected his second honor from the league and Omilusik his first at the annual banquet held prior to the conference semifinals set for tomorrow at Blue Cross Arena.

Alvarez, an All-Rookie selection last season, was one of two defensemen named to the second team while Omilusik was one of three forwards.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Alvarez collected 14 assists and six goals this season and had an even plus/minus rating. One of the team leaders in ice time, Alvarez had 15 power play points this year and was also utilized in penalty kill situations.

A junior from Traverse City, Mich., Omilusik was honored after leading the Black Knights in goals (18) and power play goals (9) and finishing second in scoring with 34 points. A physical wing, Omilusik scored one short-handed goal, one game-winning goal and one unassisted tally and handed out 16 assists.

Army was penalized just 146 times in 38 conference games and averaged only 5.2 penalty minutes per contest.

The Black Knights concluded the season with an 11-18-7 mark and advanced to the AHA quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive season.

#5 Canisius and #1 RIT will play in the first semifinal Friday at 4:05 p.m., followed by #2 Sacred Heart and #3 Air Force at 7:35 p.m.
