KISSIMMEE,  Fla.  - Freshman outfielder Tiffany Held stroked a pair of doubles going 3-for-3 with four runs batted in, and Jessi Muckelroy went the distance on a five-hitter in Army's 7-2 defeat of St. Peter's at the Rebel Spring Games played Wednesday at the Fortune Road Athletic Complex.

The Black Knights, improving to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in Florida, scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning with Held knocking in a pair with a double to left center field. Angela Deger followed with a home run, her second of the season, in delivering Held in closing out the scoring in that frame. Rachael Duval, the reigning Patriot League player of the week, opened the scoring with an RBI single as Army collected three hits in that inning.

St. Peter's Samantha Bennett ripped a two-run homer in the top of the second inning off Muckelroy (3-2), but the Patriot League's pitcher of the week scattered three hits over  the remaining five frames and only three times allowed a runner to reach second base.

Jennae Tomlinson's monstrous catch at the center field fence denied Vanessa Acosta a home run with a man on board in the third inning in what would prove to be St. Peter's final threat.

After giving up a single to the leadoff batter in the top of the fifth inning, Muckelroy retired seven straight batters and nine of the final 10 she faced.

The Black Knights padded their lead in the fifth inning to 7-2 with Held knocking in a pair with her second double of the game. Army threatened in the sixth with two outs, but Shelby Beaver, who yielded three straight hits, got out of that jam with a force at home plate.

The Black Knights will look to post their first sweep in Florida when they take on Rider in the second game of the day.
