KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Tennessee-Martin exploded for 10 runs on nine hits off three Army pitchers en route to taking a 10-1 five-inning decision over the Black Knights in their second game of Day One at the Rebel Spring Games being played Monday afternoon at the Osceola County Softball Complex.

The win snapped the Black Knights' modest four-game win streak in leveling their season mark to 4-4, while the Skyhawks, members of the Ohio Valley Conference, improved to 16-3 and 4-0 in Florida. Army's run was the first yielded by UTM in its first three Rebel Games.

Winner Chelsea Jones scattered two hits, issued two walks and set a career-high 11 strikeouts in improving to 4-1. Army's lone run came in the top of the second after Jones issued her first walk to Alexis AuBuchon. She moved around on balks and scored on freshman Tiffany Held's two-out single to left field. Jones then retired 10 of the next 11 batters she faced.

Megan Williams went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI and ripped one of two solo home runs in the third inning as UTM forced the game to be called on the eight-run rule after five innings. Erica Duke and Chelse Cary each went 2-for-3and drove in three runs. Duke ripped the first of two home runs in the third to lead off that frame.

The Skyhawks capitalized on seven hits, a pair of walks and two balks to take a commanding 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Duke and Cary keyed that flurry driving in a pair of runs each with singles and scored.

Jessi Muckelroy (2-2), who was chased in the first inning, was tagged with the loss after being touched for the first five runs.

It is the third time Army and Tennessee-Martin have met at the Rebel Spring Games with the Skyhawks leading the series 3-0.

The Black Knights, who defeated Marist 6-1 in Army's first game, will look to rebound on Wednesday, March 17, when they take on St. Peter's 11 a.m. followed by Rider at 1 p.m.
