CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - One of the most decorated post players in recent Army women's basketball memory, junior F Erin Anthony continued to bolster her sparkling resume when she repeated as Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, released by league officials on Tuesday morning. The Allentown, Pa., native garnered first team All-Patriot League honors early Tuesday as well.

Anthony became the first Army women's basketball player in history to be named Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2009 and she is now one of five players in conference history to repeat. Carrying a 3.78 cumulative grade-point average as a civil engineering major, Anthony received one of highest honors of her career thus far when she was place on the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team on Feb. 23. Mentioned among the nation's top student-athletes in the women's game, she joined consensus 2009 National Player of the Year Maya Moore out of Connecticut, Tennessee's Angie Bjorklund, Indiana State's Kelsey Luna and West Virginia's Liz Repella on the exclusive list.

A native of Allentown, Pa., Anthony has established herself as one of the most complete players in the Patriot League, exemplifying the ideal student-athlete to a tee. She posted a 3.95 GPA in the fall semester and ranked 42nd in her class of 1,047 cadets. A Dean's List honoree, Anthony recently became one of 20 cadets in her class to be accepted into the USMA Scholarship Program, which will assist her in applying for the Rhodes and Marshall scholarships among others.

A junior captain on a team without a single senior on the roster, Anthony has risen to the occasion to lead Army in both scoring and rebounding 15 times this season. She is the only player in the Patriot League to be averaging a double-double (16.2 ppg, 10.4 rpg) this season. Her 51.2 field goal percentage and 1.9 blocks per game land second in the Patriot League. She copped five Patriot League/Anaconda Player of the Week citations this season, matching 2010 Patriot League Player of the Year Michelle Kirk of American for the most weekly awards by a single player.

Anthony, who leads the league averaging over 37 minutes a game, is also listed among the nation's best in several of those statistical categories as well. She ranks 23rd in rebounding and double-doubles, 39th in field goal percentage and 57th for blocked shots.

Anthony enters postseason play sitting on 998 points, 710 rebounds and 133 blocks in her three-year career. Should she get her 1,000th point during this weekend's Patriot League Tournament, Anthony would become the sixth player in program history to hit the milestone as a junior. She ranks second all-time at Army in career blocks, seventh in rebounds and 15th in scoring. The fourth-seeded Black Knights will take on fifth-seeded Holy Cross on its home court at the Hart Center on Saturday, March 6, for a noon tip-off. Army swept the Crusaders during the regular season and also eliminated Holy Cross in the quarterfinal round of the 2009 Patriot League Tournament.

Holy Cross is hosting the first two rounds of the 2010 tournament, March 6 and 7, in Worcester, Mass. Should Army win on Saturday, it would move on to play the winner of No. 1 Lehigh vs. No. 8 Bucknell on Sunday at 1 p.m. The 2010 Patriot League Championship game is set for Saturday, March 13, at 6 p.m. at the site of the highest remaining seed. The championship game will be televised live to a national audience on CBS College Sports Network.

A limited number of tickets for the quarterfinal match-up against Holy Cross are currently on sale through the Army Ticket Office for $5 each. These discounted tickets are only available through the Army Ticket office until 5 p.m. on Friday, March 5. Tickets may be purchased online (click here), by phone at 1-877-TIX-ARMY or by visiting the Army Ticket Office windows located inside the Holleder Center.
