ARMY 4, HOLY CROSS 1

WORCESTER, Mass.  - Eric Sefchik posted his fourth straight multiple-point game and goalie Jay Clark made 35 saves as the Army hockey team posted a 4-1 victory over Holy Cross, Saturday night in an Atlantic Hockey Association contest at the Hart Center.

Sefchik netted two goals, Cody Omilusik had a goal and assist and Kyle Maggard also registered a score as the Black Knights earned a split with the Crusaders.

Eight players collected points for Army which rebounded from a 5-3 loss on Friday to improve to 10-13-5 overall and 9-9-4 in conference competition.

Clark was tested early and was sharp all game, turning aside 15 shots in the first, 12 in the second and eight in the final period.

Sefchik now has nine points in his last four games and helped Army jump out to an early lead with a short-handed goal.

John Clark, Marcel Alvarez, Mike Santee, Danny Colvin and Pat Copeland all registered assists for Army.

Jay Clark kept the game scoreless in the first period with a bevy of quality saves and 15 total, allowing Sefchik to put Army on top. With an Army player in the penalty box for interference, Sefchik collected a pass from John Clark and went "five-hole" for a 1-0 lead with 2:23 left in the first period. Sefchik scored his eighth goal of the season and Army's seventh short-handed goal this year.

Sefchik extended his team-leading point total to 30 and collected a point in his fourth consecutive game. It was Clark's sixth assist. Alvarez was also credited with an assist, his 13th this season and second game with at least a point/

Maggard extended the Army lead to 2-0 early in the second period. Colvin chipped the puck to Santee who was playing for the first time since Nov. 21. Santee sent a long pass up ice. Maggard made a nice play to keep control of the puck and away from a defender and then fired in a wrist shot less than three minutes into the second period. It was Maggard's fifth goal of the season, Santee's second assist and Colvin's eighth assist.

The Crusaders cut their deficit in half 5:45 into the second period when Luke Miller was credited with his sixth goal of the season.

Sefchik netted his second goal of the game with just over six minutes remaining in the contest. Omilusik collected the puck in the Army zone, moved it to Copeland who found Sefchik. Sefchik slid the puck past the goalies' left pad for his ninth goal of the season. It was Copeland's third assist and Omilusik's 15th.

Holy Cross pulled its goalie and used its timeout but Omilusik capped his night with an empty-net score with one minute left.

The Black Knights will return to Tate Rink for a two-game series with RIT. Games on Friday and Saturday are set for 7:05 p.m. Tickets, hospitality passes and rink-side premium seats remain. For tickets, call 1-877-TIX-ARMY or visit www.goARMYsports.com.
