NEW YORK - Junior Domonick Sylve posted a 7.88-second time in the 60m hurdles, recording a new personal-best and moving up to second on the Academy records list, on Saturday at the New Balance College Invitational at the Armory in New York City.

Although the Black Knights were scheduled to take on Navy in Annapolis, Md. this weekend, a severe Metro-Atlantic snowstorm forced the postponement of the annual Star Meet. The competition has been rescheduled to Feb. 26 (women) and 27 (men). Sylve, Torre Santiago, and Alfred McDaniel each made the short-notice trip to NYC to compete in the event.

Sylve, whose time was good enough for an NCAA provisional qualification, placed seventh overall and shaved five hundredths of a second from his previous personal best of 7.93 seconds, which came in Army's first meet at the Armory Jan. 16. Sylve moved from sixth to second on the Academy 60m hurdles list, behind T.J. Peterson's clocking of 7.85, set nearly 15 years ago this month (Heps, 2/27/94).

Santiago placed eighth in the mile run and lowered his season-best by .04 seconds to 4:12.00. Santiago surpassed the IC4A qualifying mark (4:14.90) in the Black Knights' most recent competition at the Armory on Jan. 30.

McDaniel tied for 17th in the long jump with as distance of 6.90m.

Army competes in its third and final meet at the Armory next weekend before hosting the Patriot League Indoor Championships Feb 19-21.
