WEST POINT, N.Y. - Sunday's highly anticipated Patriot League Volleyball Tournament title match will feature top-seeded Army against eight-time defending champion American at West Point's Gillis Field House. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
No. 1 Army defeated No. 4 Lehigh (3-0) in Saturday's first semifinal match, while No. 2 American swept No. 3 Colgate in the second semifinal.
Army moves on to the Championship for the first time since 2005 and will play for its first League title since 1994, while the Eagles has won every title since entering the Patriot League in 2001. The Black Knights have played in eight championship matches and won titles in three of those outings (1991, 1992, 1994). Army's last three championship appearances came against American (2001, 2004, 2005) with the final battle resulting in a thrilling 3-2 victory for the Eagles.
