NEW YORK, N.Y. - Sophomore Brody Blickle was a triple winner, but it was not enough as host Columbia captured 10 of the 16 events en route to knocking the Army men's swimming and diving team from the unbeaten ranks with a 171-129 decision Saturday afternoon at Uris Pool.

Columbia, leveling its record to 2-2, captured the first four events, to include a sweep in the 1000-yard freestyle, to pull out to a 50-22 advantage. Army (5-1) won the next two events with Blickle touching first in the 100-yard backstroke (52.70) and James McLaughlin following with a 58.70 victory in the 100-yard breaststroke to draw to 64-46, but the Lions claimed six of the next seven events to put the win in the books.

Blickle beat the field in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.69, then clocked a 1:57.22 to finish first in the 200 yard individual medley, besting Columbia's Chester Dols by over two seconds.

Also joining the winners' circle were Chris Nguyen who compiled 256.88 points on the low board along with the members of the 400 freestyle relay. Bill McCarty swam the leadoff leg with Rob Parker and Brandon Faust swimming the middle legs with Daniel Foky the anchor in rounding out he four-man team that combined for a winning time of 3:11.42.

Posting seconds were Foky in the 50 (21.23) and 100 (47.22) yard freestyle events; McLaughlin, 200 breaststroke (2:10.28); McCarty, 200 freestyle (1:44.20); Chuck Zhou, 200 backstroke (1:55.27); Cody Reeb, 500 free (4:45.31) and Brendan Georgas, 3-meter diving (248.70), along with the 200 yard medley relay (1:34.45) team of Zhou, McLaughlin, Blickle and Foky.

"Going on the road to take on a strong team like Columbia today was a good learning experience for our younger guys moving forward," said Army head coach Mickey Wender. "Despite the loss, we've still accomplished a lot this semester and we're looking forward to our trip to Seattle for the USA Short Course Championships and the Navy meet in the coming weeks and I know our guys will be working hard to be at their best for the meets."

The Black Knights will head to Federal Way, Wash. for the USA Short Course Championships on Dec. 3-6, before heading to Annapolis, Md. on Dec. 10 for their annual showdown at Navy, scheduled to start at 3:45 p.m.
